As I get ready to celebrate another year of life tomorrow, I couldn’t do it without taking a trip down memory lane and reflecting. I’ve always been inquisitive, driven and highly competitive. Any challenge or adversity in life I’ve taken it head on. When my father was murdered when I was nine years old my entire world changed. I knew from that day forward I wanted to bring life into the world and make an impact, even though a piece of my life was taken from me. I was always a straight-A-student but now it meant more.
Throughout my childhood I played basketball, joined multiple clubs, won multiple academic awards and even played multiple instruments and was the drum major in high school. I told you I’m HIGHLY competitive. Lol. When college came around I still held onto the dream of bringing life into this world. I thought I would be an OBGYN, however a chance internet search of the different majors at my college lead me in a different direction. I now wanted to become a Medical Technologist (Clinical Laboratory Scientist). You couldn’t tell me I wasn’t going to find a cure for cancer, lol.
After college, I began my career and it was so fulfilling, especially while working for a physicians office. I learned so much about the business as well as I got to have a personal touch with the patients. That life touch and making an impact was exactly what I wanted. Fast-forward to the pandemic and I began to second-guess why I went to college. Lol. I’ve trained for his, but never would have thought it would happen in my lifetime. The burn-out was REAL. My son was getting older, I was working long hours and missing out on family time. As that job was coming to an end I decided to make a complete career change.
Real estate! Now who becomes a real estate agent during a market shift, ME! I told you I love a challenge. Lol. Becoming a real estate agent is probably one of the most challenging things I’ve done. I’ve always excelled at everything I did, because it came easy to me. Science was easy, music was easy. But having an analytical mind in a world of “it depends” was such a mind shift. But once again, I love a challenge lol. For the first time in my life, I was doing something that was outside of my comfort zone. I had to talk to strangers and actually sell homes. Like really Taryra, what were you thinking lol.
I became a licensed REALTOR®️ in November 2022 and this journey has been both rewarding and eye opening. I’m more of an extrovert than I give myself credit for. I get to show my creative side, while building a business that shows my passion for helping people and building legacies for the future. I’m not selling homes, I’m building relationships just as I have done in my medical career. I genuinely get to know all my clients and closing day for me is not the end, it’s only the beginning. The biggest joy is having my son right by my side while I’m doing it (no more biohazard areas, lol). And at this point, Noah could show a house better than me and he keeps me in line with all my clients. Knowing that I can have a fulfilling career while getting to share it with my child is something I never imagined. I’m living my life by design (KW BOLD Law, lol). The Fourteen Real Estate Group was founded on the principles of dedication, love and family. The number Fourteen symbolizes the legacy of my father and celebrates my heart in human form. My dad’s birthday is 8/6 (8 + 6 = 14) and death date is 4/19 (4 + 1 + 9 = 14). My son’s birthday is 4/14/14 (4 + 1 + 4 + 1 + 4 = 14).
My dedication to my clients has always been and continues to be built on relationships over transactions. I truly believe home is where the heart is đź’•
